Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) and leading digital ticket delivery solution, Tixserve, have today confirmed the signing of a partnership that will see digital ticketing being used for all HKRU-managed events.
The announcement coincides with the rollout of the Tixserve digital ticket fulfilment solution for the flagship Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens on 4th - 6th November which is globally recognised as the premier tournament of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
The HKRU's decision to partner with Tixserve will enable them to know all ticket holders attending their fixtures and comply with local Covid-19 regulations - while enhancing the experience for ticket holders with a more secure, efficient and engaging ticketing solution. This is a historic moment for the rugby union as it welcomes the return of local and international fans to the HK7s tournament following a two-year Covid-19 disruption of this prestigious world-famous event.
The new Tixserve-powered HKRU Ticketing app will be used by all local and international fans on 4th to 6th November to receive their three-day digital passes after purchasing them through HKRU’s ticket-selling platform, TicketFlap. This will streamline ticket delivery for both fans and HKRU, and will eliminate their traditional fulfilment costs associated with printing, packaging and distributing tickets.
During the 7s series, fans will use the digital ticketing app to enter the 40,000-capacity Hong Kong Stadium safely and efficiently. Supplemental information will be provided on the digital tickets to guide fans to and through the stadium, while in-app accommodation booking services will also be available for fans to conveniently book their weekend stay in the city.
HKRU will now have direct in-app connectivity to fans for key operational messages, real-time content, and event marketing to amplify fan engagement.
The HK7s this November will see all core World Rugby Series men’s teams take part in the three-day competition. All visiting teams will utilise Tixserve’s self-service solution to distribute their allocated digital tickets to international fans. This will provide HKRU with further insight into their international fans as well as enabling convenient ticket distribution for visiting teams.
The Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Tournament Director, Aaron Stockdale, welcomes the upgrade from traditional paper tickets:
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Tixserve to help us deliver a much more seamless and sustainable digital ticketing solution for our fans, partners, and sponsors. The increased agility a digital platform offers us is very important to the HKRU, as we are always looking to improve customer experience at our signature sporting events”.
Tixserve’s Managing Director, Patrick J Kirby, commented:
“Following on from our recently announced multi-year partnership with Scottish Rugby, Tixserve is delighted to respond to the digital ticketing requirements of Hong Kong Rugby Union and its major 7s sponsors, Cathay Pacific and HSBC. The partnership with Hong Kong Rugby Union is a significant step for Tixserve towards opening up further new business opportunities in Asia and we are already in discussions with potential clients in that region.”
